Help orphans and street children of Tanzania grow safely into educated, healthy, joyful, thriving adults.
Looking into the future…
We aspire to constitute TABASAMU Langu as a government-recognized non-profit organization
We aspire to create satellite TABASAMU schools in Arusha and other towns in Tanzania
ONGOING PROGRAMS
TABASAMU keeps children in primary school by providing basic, required supplies families cannot afford.
Primary school is “free,” but families must supply exercise books, uniforms, pencils and pens, art and music supplies, as well as bring food for lunch and pay a share of the water bill. TABASAMU funds 10-20 students per term in Karatu, Joseph’s home town.
TABASAMU spreads joy, new friendships, and positivity by outfitting poor kids with football/soccer uniforms, shoes, and balls and organizing matches.
Joseph brings children from different villages together to play, get acquainted, have fun, and talk about staying in school and living a healthy, joyful life.
TABASAMU supports healthy growth by providing snacks, cooked meals, fruit juice and clean water to street kids between school sessions, on school holidays, and in cross-village soccer matches
A Christmas meal prepared by Joseph’s mum has become a TABASAMU tradition in Karatu.
~ NEW FOR 2025 AND 2026 ~
We are launching the inaugural TABASAMU playground & preschool in Arusha!
There is no free pre-school in Tanzania. Even parks and playgrounds charge fees; thus, street kids have no access to safe equipment for healthy play.
Joseph has leased a property where he is developing an outdoor playgound, indoor classroom, and kitchen. Pre-school age children from the surrounding high-poverty neighborhood will have regular access. Primary school children will have access on weekends and school holidays.
